YOUR MONEY BELIEFS SET THE STAGE FOR YOUR FINANCIAL FUTURE AND YOUR MINDSET CREATES THE GOAL.
Did you know your financial mindset can help you succeed or hold you back?
Your money beliefs set the stage for your financial future and your mindset creates the goals, which create the actions. Without that first step,
You won’t get anywhere you want with money.
So what’s your financial mindset?
HOW DO YOU THINK ABOUT MONEY?
Ask yourself (and be honest), what you think about money – how do you view it? Do you get mad every time you have to spend money? For example, paying bills – does it stress you out or make you angry?
Or do you enjoy spending money; does it make you feel grateful for what it provides? For example, paying the mortgage means you have a place to live; buying clothes means you’re alive and well.
If you hate money, disrespect it, or just don’t honor it, your actions won’t result in positive financial actions.
DO YOU HAVE GOALS ?
Without financial goals, you have nothing to achieve. Why would you put steps in place to meet a non-existent goal? This leaves you living in limbo.
You pay your bills and live life, but that’s it. There’s no meat behind it. You don’t have something fueling you forward, whether short-term, mid-term, or long-term goals.
Sit down right now and set goals. Think about what you want in a few months, a few years, and as far away as retirement. For now, make them generic – you don’t have to get too specific.
Use these goals to create your financial habits, one step at a time.
CREATE YOUR BUDGET WITH EASE
This is the hard part. Yes, you need a budget, but don’t let it feel restricting. It isn’t meant to hold you back. It should empower you by letting you know where your money goes. Using your fresh mindset, goals, and desires, you can decide what your budget should look like. Just don’t view it as the enemy – view it as an ally pushing you forward to reach your goals.
Your financial mindset is everything. Try not to live in the past, beating yourself up for past financial mistakes.
Put your eye on the prize and move forward. Reassess your financial mindset daily, as it’s a work in progress that won’t change overnight. Your mindset creates your goals and your goals move you forward. Are you ready to make changes.
